The Legend
Joseph William Frazier — known to the world as 'Smokin' Joe' — was an Olympic gold medalist, former World Heavyweight Champion, and one of the most celebrated fighters in boxing history.
Born in Beaufort, South Carolina, and raised in Philadelphia, Joe Frazier built more than a career in North Philadelphia — he built a community. His gym on North Broad Street was a home for the neighborhood that shaped him, a place where discipline, hope, and belonging were available to anyone willing to walk through the door.
His legacy was never just about boxing. It was about what he gave back — and what Beyond the Ropes is committed to continuing.

Granddaughter of Smokin' Joe Frazier, Gabrielle was born and raised in Philadelphia and is a graduate of Friends Select School and Widener University. She brings her entrepreneurial spirit, technology-industry experience, commitment to athletics, and deep family legacy to help preserve Joe Frazier's impact on Philadelphia's youth and communities for generations to come.
Brittini Frisby Warren
Co-Founder
Granddaughter of Smokin' Joe Frazier, Brittini was born and raised in Lafayette Hill and is a graduate of Plymouth Whitemarsh High School. She brings her passion, dedication, and deep connection to her grandfather's legacy to share and create inspiring programs and initiatives that continue her grandfather's efforts in the City of Philadelphia.
Cassidy Vilme
Social Media Manager
A recent graduate of Temple University, Cassidy is passionate about storytelling through photography and video editing. She loves capturing and shaping them into stories. As the Social Media Manger at Joe Frazier’s Gym & Community Center, she is excited to showcase the organization’s incredible work, impact and legacy.
